History of school

All great things have a small beginning; Even the tallest oak tree grows from a tiny seed.

Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura is the brainchild of the Child Education Society, an apex body founded in the year 1944 by late LalaHansraj Gupta, an eminent and distinguished educationist, philanthropist and social worker. It is a co-educational school with Montessori, Primary, and Secondary Departments, with heads and co-ordinators for each department working as a team.

The school started in a rented house in Harsh Vihar. Registration for classes Mont I and III was opened from 30th April, 1984 and our odyssey began. We started as a family of 200 students and 16 staff members. In the year 1987, DDA allotted us land in a prime locality of West Delhi, Pitampura, and this was the beginning of the fulfillment of the vision envisaged. In 1988, the Primary wing shifted to the new building. By this time, the school had 1150 students and 45 staff members. The management and staff strove hard to provide the infrastructure and all the facilities to the students as swiftly as possible. The celebration of the first Annual Day in the school compound in 1988 made history.

“To climb a high tower you start from a very first step and step by step you rise higher till you reach the top”

The next few years went by in a flurry of activities. With a building expanding with each session, increasing number of spacious classrooms, sprawling well maintained fields for hockey, football, cricket, art and sculpture rooms, our school was fast earning the reputation of a top notch school of Delhi. Active participation in competitions at all the levels of academics, sports and co-curricular brought laurels to the school. Children have a very powerful inner vision and understanding, which if used, can turn them into truly educated enlightened beings.  As educators, it is our aim to bring it out, to tap it and let it flow. In order to achieve this, well stocked libraries, audio visual rooms and various activity rooms were set up. Ours was the first school to set up an Astro –Turf Tennis Court in the area. A  swimming pool was added to the school campus .

The next logical step was the setting up of computer enabled classrooms from Mont I to class XII in the year 2002. A Knowledge Centre was set up in collaboration with EducompDatamatics Limited that developed customized teaching capsules for various academics subjects. In the year 2006, the ‘No Books’ system was extended to cover all the classes. Bags became lighter, and teaching more innovative.

Our journey in the international arena began in the year 1991, with a group of 10 students and one teacher visiting the Nativity School, Cincinnati, USA. Our efforts in transcending the barriers of cultures and nations have won us many friends. The following years witnessed exchange programmes with  schools in America, Russia, Australia and the UK. Our efforts in the global arena finally resulted in the school being awarded the International School Award in the years 2004 and 2007.

Our endeavour to further the cause of education continues. We are scaling new heights with each passing day. John F. Kennedy said ' Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a hope and a dream which , if fulfilled can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nations.' We, at BalBharati Public School, Pitampura, dream of a nation where everyone is enlightened, where each one is empowered, where one has the inner strength to stay sensitive and upright in  a world threatened by corruption and callousness. For this , the Bal Bharati  Pariwar pledges to work on , selflessly, tirelessly, living by the school mottohanso
